Grow Your Own Food'The most productive form of agriculture in the world is the well watered backyard garden.' - Cicero, Gibbon's Decline and Fall

Statistically, home owners keep lawns, not gardens. Lawns are expensive. You may spray weed killer, mow with a lawnmower, maybe even play catch once in a while. But a garden will produce enough food to make an impact on your budget, every year. It is one of the smartest investments you can make. ...more |

Economic Support
Can gardening supply a useful amount of food? Yes! Victory gardens in WWII supplied 80% of the USA's produce on only 5% of the agricultural land. Gardens are space intensive and high yield.
Plus, every bit of food you grow is a mouthful you don't need to buy from a market. Insulate yourself from economic downturn and strengthen your own community by working together with land owners and volunteers in your area.
Community
Times are hard and the solution is for everybody to make some friends. We need to get folks with land hooked up with folks with time, and we need to plant some food gardens. Cooperation is what this website is all about. We encourage volunteers to form local workpartys and rotate houses. Collaborate on expertise, equipment, seeds and stock. Get in touch, and get organized here.
